Another way to reduce traffic

The Bay bridges have shown that the price to bring a motor vehicle onto the facility controls the number of motor vehicles. Whether road tolls or transit fares or parking fees, raising the cost of use will decrease usage (and conversely, lowering increases usage). So, charge a fee to access airport property by motor vehicle. Vary the price to control demand, as is done on some Southern California roads. It’s called “demand pricing.” A maximum number of vehicles accessing the airport can be set. The price to access the airport by motor vehicle would vary based on demand. It would keep vehicles at or below this maximum level.

The Modern Transit Society believes that automobiles are heavily subsidized and that these subsidies are the crux of our transportation problems. A proposal to correct this, called “Free Market for Transportation Plan,” is available on the Internet.
